Tranquility Beneath the Waves

$660.00

22×30 Oil Painting on Paper

This one decided what it wanted to be from the start. It began as mark-making — markers, stencils, just playing with color and seeing what happened. I had this abstract background going and no idea what to do with it.

Then I turned the paper on its side, and that’s when it told me: underwater scene. From there it was oil pastels and experimentation, chasing the bright colors that kept pulling at me. The dolphins and that little pink fish just emerged as I went.

My favorite part is the shell-like form just above the fish — it has real depth to it. I love the bubbles trailing off the fish, and the way the coral under the dolphins seems to glow, like it’s alive. This piece was just fun.

Original available.
