Flourescent Paint & Foggy Moods
Vibrant Visions
When I started this portrait, I was in a season of stress.
My day job felt heavy.
I was being reprimanded for speaking the truth.
Not in a big, dramatic way—just in that slow, quiet pressure that builds when you stop feeling safe to be yourself.
So I picked up my brush.
This piece wasn’t planned.
It came out bold. Direct. Colorful.
She’s looking straight at you. No apologies.
I didn’t name her, but she feels like someone who knows who she is.
Unshaken. Confident. Still.
And maybe I needed to paint that energy.
Maybe I needed to see her stare back at me and remind me—
It’s okay to show your true colors.
The fluorescent paints were new for me.
They don’t behave like traditional oils.
They pop. They resist subtlety.
They force you to commit.
It was exactly what I needed.
There’s something honest about fluorescent paint.
It doesn’t fade into the background.
It shines whether you want it to or not.
That felt… familiar.
I’ve been in more of a nature mood lately.
I’ve been dreaming of marshes, fog, trees with Spanish moss.
But this portrait pushed its way out.
Loud. Colorful. Focused.
And I let it.
Not everything we create will match our current mood.
Sometimes our hands tell the truth before our minds catch up.
This piece helped me process some things.
It reminded me to speak honestly.
To show up as I am.
Even when it's uncomfortable.
Even when it's too bright for some.
Your turn.
When was the last time you showed your true colors, even when it felt risky?
Hit reply. I’d love to hear your story.
If this painting speaks to you, you can see it here in the shop or catch it in person at my next show.
As always, thank you for the support and for being here. It means the world to me.
